Day of Reflection - November 2008

UPDATING OUR COSMOLOGY

UPDATES OUR THEOLOGY

Sat 8th November 2008
10.30 a.m to 4.30 p.m.

Venue:- Friends Meeting House , Wolverhampton

We live in a post-modern era, where advances in our knowledge and understanding of the Macro and Micro Cosmos are increasing exponentially. Yet, much of ‘popular’ theology remains rooted in a world that has long since passed us by.

We once thought that the Earth was a flat plate and thus we evolved a theology of ‘ God up in Heaven and the Devil down below in Hell’ Then we thought the Earth was the centre of the Universe and we ( mainly men) were the centre of creation and our theology reflected this and thus we made ' A God in our image' or a 'Personal God'.

Now, in this, the era of Quantum Physics and Cosmology ,what theology fits our situation? How have we reviewed our concept of God ?

This day will provide an opportunity to explore these issues. Further details, costs etc are to be found in the attached Flyer - click on link below .

The Zen Garden at Die Quelle & The Practice of Awareness

The Zen Garden at Die Quelle

One of my favourite places for silence and solitude. It is a haven of beauty. With its sights, sounds and scents, you can enfold yourself in the outside and feel one with Nature.
Here you can take your time to walk slowly. Then you can stop to observe an insect, plant, stone or even the light changing. The setting is peaceful, tranquil and lends itself to the valuable Sadhana (Spiritual Practice) of Awareness/Mindfulness.
Here you can confine yourself to the 'Present Moment'

Spending even a few minutes a day in the practice of Zen Walking is a very effective Sadhana or Spiritual Practice.
